2008
· Three summer leagues are available to fit your level of play.
· Coed Recreational/Draft League run by Dana and is intended for beginners and experienced alike - those wanting more of a social experience.
· Coed Team League run by Rob and is intended for those who want to play coed with a core of players and is recommended for the more experienced player.
· Open League being run by Allen and is intended to give those who cannot play in the coed leagues, want a west-county location, or just prefer an open division.
All leagues are governed by Spirit Of The Game. Every player is expected to adhere to the rules of play and exhibit good sportsmanship. Please read below for a definition of Spirit Of The Game (SOTG) and the course of action for poor spirit.

Dana’s (Recreational) Coed League
o League fees must be paid in order for a player to be drafted to a team.
o Structured as a 4:3 ratio men to women participants. Given previous experience, we will most likely be limiting the number of male players. (So sign up and pay early.)

Play will be Monday nights at Tower Grove Park
with first pull at
o Games played to 13 points OR as agreed by the Team Managers prior to the game.
o Volunteers are needed to serve as Team Managers, whose responsibilities will be to pick their team at the Team Draft (Thursday, May 15, 2008, 6 pm), notify teammates of game schedules, report scores, and act as liaison with SLUA.
o Fun Points are encouraged, (i.e., Off-hand, Mulligan with a mini-disc, alternate-gender-pulls and/or Inter-gender-scoring-bonus points).

Rob’s (Core/Experienced) Coed League
o League fees must be paid in order for a player to be assigned to a team.
o Structured as a minimum 5 men to 2 women coed league.
o Registration will begin approximately Thursday, 19 April 2008 and close Sunday, 11 May 2008 (or when filled).
o
Play Thursday nights at
o Games played to 13 points OR as agreed by the Team Managers prior to the game.
o Volunteers are needed to serve as Team Managers, whose responsibility will be to notify teammates of game schedules, agree to any game-time rules changes, report scores, and act as liaison with SLUA.
o Teams will be selected based on identified core (max = 12 players). Remaining players will be assigned to a team by league administrator. (5 men to 2 women ratio is mandatory when forming cores)

Allen’s (Core) Open League
o League fees must be paid in order for a player to be assigned to a team.
o Structured as an open division with no gender ratio. We expect this division to be predominately male.

o Games played to 13 points OR as agreed by the Team Managers prior to the game.
o Volunteers are needed to serve as Team Managers, whose responsibility will be to notify teammates of game schedules, agree to any game-time rules changes, report scores, and act as liaison with SLUA.
o Teams will not be chosen in an open Draft. The teams will be pseudo-randomly selected to make teams as competitive as possible. A core of people may be identified and we will try to put them on the same team.
Common to All Leagues
· The following is taken from the UPA 10th edition rules, section IB. This is used in part to help us define what we mean by Spirit of the Game (SOTG).
Spirit of the Game: Ultimate relies upon a spirit of sportsmanship which places the responsibility for fair play on the player. Highly competitive play is encouraged, but never at the expense of mutual respect among players, adherence to the agreed upon rules of the game, or the basic joy of play. Protection of these vital elements serves to eliminate adverse conduct from the Ultimate field. Such actions as taunting of opposing players, dangerous aggression, belligerent intimidation, intentional fouling, or other "win-at-all-costs" behavior are contrary to the spirit of the game and must be avoided by all players.

· SOTG Crimes & Misdemeanors – It is expected that every player in the league will exhibit the highest level of Spirit. When a player’s conduct is not according to our understanding of SOTG, it is each of our responsibility to let them know. The following are recommendations to help us all ensure that we can continue to enjoy the game we love.
o We are each primarily responsible for our own behavior. If we say or do something that we recognize as regrettable or wrong, we will immediately try to correct the situation. This may involve apologizing, retracting a foul call, or even removing ourselves from the game.
o Our teammates share primary responsibility for letting us know when we are showing unacceptable behavior. Although, this responsibility may fall to our manager, any of our teammates can let us know.
o The team manager of an opposing team has a secondary responsibility. First, they will tell our team manager if we conduct ourselves inappropriately. Second they will confidentially contact SLUA about extreme incidents that may warrant further investigation.
o SLUA will review any complaints. Our conduct may warrant anything from an informal discussion, a formal counseling, or expulsion from the Summer League.
· UPA Rules apply. Any deviations from UPA or SLUA rules are to be agreed upon by Team Managers on a case-by-case basis.
