Our Mission

SLUJ is committed to increasing opportunities for High School aged youth to play Ultimate in an organized, safe, and character-building environment.

Our Past

SLUJ's first year of organizing High School Ultimate was in 2004.  We began with 6 teams and became the only organized High School Ultimate League in the state of Missouri.  At that time, we were called St. Louis High School Ultimate (STLHSU); We changed our name to SLUJ in 2006, when we had grown to 11 teams.

We have hosted the MO State High School Championships each year of our existence, and fielded the winning team in all but one of those years.

Through the years we have added several events in addition to our league play: SLUJ Bucket (a hat draw tournament), SLUJ Invite (an elite two-day tournament), and SLUJ All-Stars.

Our league has grown to 20 teams representing High Schools throughout the entire St. Louis metropolitan area.  Unlike many other Juniors organizations, all of our teams are coached by experienced ultimate players, many of which are certified.

What Makes Us Different

Unlike other alternative sports organizations, we work directly with schools, often times gaining access to school fields and facilities.

We are completely insured and all of our members become members of the national organizing body for ultimate, USA ultimate, which provides, in addition to liability coverage, ultimate publications, instructional materials, and team support.

Several of our coaches are instructors in the schools they coach for, and they all are bound to an agreement with the league to promote spirited and safe play.

We serve as ambassadors for High School Ultimate outside of our boundaries, by presenting at national conventions and sharing our strategies for league development.  We also host  coaching clinics for people from all over the midwest who hope to improve their leadership.
